The honest answer is almost always yes, but the right starting point in the course differs a lot depending on your background, and it is worth being specific rather than giving a blanket "anyone can join."

Civil, Mechanical and Architecture Graduates

This is the most straightforward group. Civil engineers and architects have the most directly relevant background and typically move fastest through the modelling fundamentals into specialisation. Mechanical engineering graduates transition well into Revit MEP specifically, since services and systems thinking overlaps with their coursework — a pathway we cover in more depth in our piece on choosing between Revit Architecture and Revit MEP.

Polytechnic Diploma Holders

Diploma holders in civil, mechanical or architecture-adjacent branches are fully eligible and make up a meaningful share of our student base. Where diploma holders sometimes need extra support is in the software-fundamentals pace of the first module, simply because engineering-degree coursework often covers more CAD exposure earlier. That is not a barrier to completing the Diploma — it just means being upfront with your trainer if you need extra lab hours in week one or two.

Non-Circuit-Branch Engineers: Electrical, Electronics, IT, Computer Science

This group can absolutely join, and several of our strongest MEP-track and Dynamo-automation students, discussed in our piece on visual programming for Revit, came from electrical or IT backgrounds rather than civil. The realistic expectation to set is that you are learning both the construction-industry context and the software simultaneously, so the first few weeks require slightly more effort than for a civil engineering peer — not that the door is closed.

Commerce Graduates and Career Switchers With No Technical Degree

This is the group we get asked about most often, and where we are the most direct: a commerce or non-technical arts graduate can complete the software training, but roles that require reading structural drawings or understanding building codes at depth will take longer to become fully job-ready in. Where this group often succeeds fastest is in BIM-adjacent roles like documentation coordination, model administration, or quantity takeoff support rather than design-heavy modelling roles from day one — a realistic starting point rather than a discouraging one.

Rather than a rigid eligibility list, our counselling call is designed to place you correctly within the course, not gatekeep you out of it. We ask about your degree, any prior CAD or design software exposure, and your target job role, then recommend whether to start at the beginning of the 14-course Diploma or focus on a specific subset of modules matched to your goal.
