Second, the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESCO) and the Chief Controller of Explosives (CCoE) tightened the safety-distance compliance for fuel-dispensing units near EV chargers, residential boundaries and the public road — a 3D model handles this clearance check in seconds. Third, OMCs realised that a centralised Revit family library lets one head-office engineer review 50 sites a month instead of 12. The OMC Revit Family Library: What It Contains

Every OMC publishes a master Revit family library that contractors and architects must use. Step 1: Topographic survey of the plot in Civil 3D plus the road right-of-way overlay from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) or the State PWD. Step 2: Site layout in Revit with the OMC family library — UGST positions, dispensing islands, canopy footprint, vehicle entry-exit lanes (separate ingress and egress per the OMC standard), customer parking bays, washroom block, convenience store and air-water station. Step 3: EV fast-charging integration — the electrical engineer adds the transformer kiosk, the LV switchgear, the EV charger and the cable trench routing using Revit Electrical. Step 4: PESCO and CCoE safety-distance check — typical clearances are 6 m from the dispensing point to the property boundary, 3 m from the dispensing point to the canopy column, 2 m to the EV charger, with site-specific overrides for the highway-frontage type. Step 5: NHAI / PWD road-edge clearance check — entry-exit deceleration lanes, sight-distance compliance, and lane-width requirements per IRC 38. Step 6: PMC, PMRDA or Gram Panchayat plan approval submission. Step 7: Construction issue with shop drawings auto-generated from the Revit model.

The EV Fast-Charging Layer: Why Electrical Engineers Are Now Demanded

An expressway-grade petrol pump in 2026 is no longer a fuel-only outlet. A typical Pune-Mumbai expressway site now hosts 4 dispensers (petrol and diesel), 1 CNG island, 4–8 EV fast-chargers ranging from 60 kW to 240 kW, and a battery-swap kiosk for two-wheelers. The combined electrical load can exceed 1.5 MVA, requiring a dedicated transformer, ring main unit and a substation kiosk.
