The 80-hour course unfolds across 17 structured sessions. The PLC half opens with industrial automation fundamentals: the history and need for automation, input devices (push buttons, toggle switches, limit switches, proximity sensors), and output devices (lamps, motors, relays, contactors, solenoid valves). Students then work through PLC architecture and the Siemens STEP-7 / TIA Portal environment, followed by ladder logic programming — AND, NAND, OR, NOR, NOT, EX-OR, and EX-NOR gates, latching and interlocking concepts, timers (On-Delay, Off-Delay, Retentive), counters (Up, Down, Up-Down), comparator functions, jump and MCR functions, and word logic. Session 15 is hands-on panel wiring: connecting NPN and PNP proximity sensors, limit switches, relays, and motors to a live Siemens PLC. The SCADA half introduces supervisory control systems — architecture, HMI window creation, and a complete industrial SCADA project. The final session brings everything together: students design and implement a traffic light controller, a flashing circuit, a conveyor system with forward and reverse control, and an automatic mixing process in real ladder logic.
